More problems for Ferrer-Bodet

A report from the newspaper El Diari de Tarragona, republished on the Priorat.org web site indicates that the Ferrer-Bodet winery is encountering further difficulties. In a previous post in this blog, there was news of the sabotage of some 8,000 vines at the winery. Now a former security guard at the winery is claiming to have been unjustly released from his job and that he is owed payment for up to 80 hours of overtime.

The guard, Francesc Blanch, who was contracted via an outsourcing company, worked the night shift and claims that nothing unusual occured during the time of the supposed herbicide attack on the vines. In the week after the attack and two days after requesting his overtime pay, he was informed by fax that his work contract had been terminated.

The report mentions that the Ferrer-Bodet winery has recieved criticism for distrupting the landscape during the works on their facility, in early March some of the forest area that was to be converted into vineyards was set on fire, and that several other workers have complained of not receiving part of their pay.

Despite all this, the report indicated that the winery still intends to begin winemaking with this year's harvest.

As for the investigation on the sabotate, the police continue to look for the culprits with no arrests so far being made.
