Jancis raves on Spain
In her weekly Sunday article in the Financial Times (also issued on her web site) noted wine critic Jancis Robinson this week gives an insightful look at new developments in Spain.
The 4 highlights are:
Verdejo (vur-DE-ho) : the nicely acidic and moderately fruit white grape used mainly in Rueda;
the Toro D.O., which looks set to rival Ribera del Duero for power and price, where Tempranillo goes by the name of Tinto del Toro;
the Bierzo D.O. and its star grape, Mencía (men-SI-a);
and the increasing attention given to Spain's most widely planted red grape, Garnacha (Grenache).
