Bottles in my recycling bin
As I was making my weekly recycling haul to the corner glass collection bin on Sunday, the idea for a post hit me: a run-down on what have my wife and I (and guests) been drinking recently.
So, here are my notes on the bottles we recycled yesterday.
Val Viadero 2002 (D.O. Toro)
This young red was fresh and pleasantly balanced.
Enate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2003 (D.O. Somontano)
Great structure and tasty fruit!
Emilio Moro Finca Resalso 2003 (D.O. Ribera del Duero)
This red is made from Tinto fino (the name given to Tempranillo in Ribera del Duero) grapes and aged 4 months in French Allier oak. Very enjoyable.
Okhre natur 2003, organic red wine
I have not been able to find out any information on this wine or the winery that makes it. A corporation is listed on the label, but that is all. But, it was a nice wine, none the less.
Mas de la Basserola, brut nature Cava from Cellers Vives Gau.
This cava uses two of the traditional cava grapes of Parellada and Macabeo to make this very fresh and crisp sparkling wine.
Legaris crianza 2001 (D.O. Ribera del Duero)
Made from Tinto fino (Tempranillo). The red wine was very intense and rich.
Castell del Remei Gotim Bru 2002 (D.O. Costers del Segre)
This red is made from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes and is oak aged for 10 months. Gotim Bru is consistently fresh every time I try it.
Abadia Retuerta Viña Arnoldo 2003
Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Syrah and aged for 4 months in American oak. Another great offering from this leading "vinos de la tierra" (ie. non- D.O.) winery.
