Vinissim!

After a very long silence for the holidays, your humble Spanish wineblogger has returned!

Last night, my wife and I visited a favorite haunt of ours, Vinissim. Set in Barcelona's old quarter just up from Plaça Sant Jaume, this winebar features some of the most interesting regional wines, innovative tapas and great ambiance.

Upon arrival we were greeted by manager Albert Gonzalez, who straight away had us try a couple of new wine arrivals. The one we decided to keep drinking was Lasendal from Celler de Capçanes of the Montsant D.O. Its a semi-crianza (meaning that has been aged for several months in oak, but less than the one year required to be a crianza) made from Granacha with a touch of Syrah. It was very clean, with a nice finish, and a hint of spice. We enjoyed this wine with an assortment of salad, sausage fried in cider, Spanish omelete and cream of pumpkin soup - perfect for a chilly winter's night!

Vinissim is located at number 12, Calle San Domenec del Call. Telephone: 93 301-4575
I can't wait to go back!
