Microsoft wine

Recently, news has been published about Microsoft's new venture in wine making software. This software will inform winemakers of the best day to harvest grapes, how long to age in oak barrels, and when the wine should reach its peak. I am not sure if this means the end of the art of winemaking as we now enjoy it, or an excellent resource for winemakers: time and the market will surely tell.

The first winery in Spain has signed on to pioneer the use of this new software: the already outstanding wine maker, Matarromera, of the Ribera del Duero region. In the highly important Spanish wine guide, "La Guia de Peñín", the wines of this house regularly score 80+ points.
